Does your baby wake frequently during the night? Or does your baby just have a hard time settling down at any nap or bedtime? It is so hard to know the cause for your baby’s discomfort, especially when you know that they are sleepy, have a clean diaper, and has a full stomach. After covering those bases, there are very few options that could be the problem. One could be a stomach problem or acid reflux, but some babies have a hard time sleeping because they are disrupted by startling noises. The best way to find out if this is your baby’s problem is by using a white noise machine like the Elesories Sound Machine.
So how can this machine help your baby sleep, and what are the best features of this one? Read on to find out!
The Elesories Sound Machine has the most options of sounds in one machine that I have seen thus far. It has 24 sounds, and honestly, they are more appealing to me personally than the other sounds I have heard as well. This unit has a high-quality speaker that makes the sounds very authentic and life-like–which is a huge plus in a machine that produces background noise.
The sounds are listed below, and you can hear them in the video just below as well.
As someone who loves fan noise in particular, I appreciate that there are five different options of fans available. Not every fan is created equal, in my mind, so it is great to have choices. Many times white noise machines have a very inauthentic fan sound, but this one was surprisingly accurate.
- Mellow Fan
- Vent Fan
- Oscillating Fan
- Box Fan
- Industrial Fan
A lot of people know what white noise is, but the other shades of white noise are not as commonly referred to. Basically, the different shades of white noise that are listed below have different tones to them. The more pink tones have deeper sounds and the brown ones have deeper sounds still. Pure white noise is about what you would hear when you have a tv on the wrong channel. It’s a crinkly noise but it also sometimes can sound high-pitched to people, which is why many prefer some of the pink or brown tones.
- Pure White
The nature sounds are realistic-sounding and there is a wide variety to choose from. I like that there is an option for thunderstorms that is independent of the rain option. There are some sound machines that only have rain with thunderstorms mixed in. This option is much more peaceful.
- Summer Night
- Forest Birds
These options are the ones that really shine when you are a parent buying for your baby. Babies love the sound of lullabies or piano music and it can be a sound that you might enjoy at different periods of the day as well. There is also the heartbeat option, which I love because your baby is truly most accustomed to hearing your heartbeat continuously through the womb. I’m sure that that is a soothing sound for all babies.
- 3 Lullabies
- Piano and water
- Playing Cat
The Elesories Sound Machine has a minimalist design but the buttons are very efficient to get where you want to go. Unlike the majorly minimalist design of the Letsfit Sound Machine where the buttons are a bit confusing, these few buttons are well labeled and obvious.
You can search through each subcategory of sounds to find the right one instead of having to search through each different track individually. It also has a memory feature so if you know your baby likes one specific sound, it will stay on that selection until you move it, even if you turn the machine off.
There is also a timer function that gives you the option to choose between 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes or continuous playing. This is an invaluable feature if you want to lull your baby to sleep but not keep it running all night long.
I like that the volume buttons are independent of the on/off button. These buttons are indicated by a + and – sign and this is a great feature because like the song selection, the Elesories Sound Machine has a memory function for volume as well. You will know that conditions will be perfect every time you turn it on and off.
One of my absolute favorite features about the Elesories Sound Machine is that it has a headphone jack. This might not prove to be very useful with babies, since getting a baby to wear headphones could be a pretty challenging trick. However, I love the option for adults, and really, if you’re buying a sound machine, you might as well get one that adults will love as well.
The best thing about the headphone jack is that you can enjoy the soothing sounds of white noise without bothering anyone around you. Many other noise machines suggested that you could take them to work with you, but in my mind, I wondered if anyone around you would appreciate hearing your particular flavor of background noise. With the headphone jack, you can block out irritating sounds from your coworkers without creating your own.
I also think that this is a hugely important feature with so many people working from home in increasing numbers. You might have to work in a closet to have space to yourself, but you can block out all the sounds from your family with the white noise headphone jack.
Like the Magicteam Sound Machine that I reviewed here, the Elesories has a very compact design, which is great for people who like to bring it along with them places. This sound machine is 3.5 inches square and 1 inch high. You can easily stick it in your purse or diaper bag.
To put it in perspective, it is about half the size of a sunglasses case.
This unit is also semi-portable. What does that mean? Well, it is very compact, which makes it easy to tote around, however it does always need to be plugged in. But unlike the Letsfit White Noise Machine that I reviewed here, you don’t have to have it plugged into the wall to use it. You can either use the DC adapter or you can plug the USB cord right into your laptop or any other USB port you can find. So you don’t necessarily need a wall, but you do need a USB port somewhere to plug it in to make it run.
I would of course prefer if I could charge it and then just simply unplug it, but that feature isn’t included. However, if you read my post about How Homedics White Noise Sound Machine Will Help You Sleep, then you will know that white noise shouldn’t be something that your baby depends on 24/7. So having a break from it might be a good thing. But if you’re on vacation in a room without a convenient power source, life can be tricky.
Overall, the Elesories Sound Machine is a serious contender for the best sound machines on the market. It has really great features like compactness and that the USB adapter is so convenient. I love the sound quality of this machine and the variety that it offers in sounds. It’s also at a very affordable price and will prove to be a useful tool for babies and adults alike.
