One major frustration that parents have when it comes to strollers is that it doesn’t seem like there is one out there that will fit all their life’s needs as their family adjusts and grows. Well, the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Stroller remedies this problem with one of the most versatile strollers out there. The basic model is great all by itself, but you have the option of adding more building blocks to it to fit your own specific family needs. Check out why the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Stroller is the stroller that will adjust with you as your family grows.

Modes
If you had the chance to check out my last post about the Graco Modes Click Connect Stroller, then you know how great it is to have a stroller that is versatile enough to have different modes. The Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Stroller actually has even more modes possible than the Graco Modes Click Connect. Read more about them below:
Toddler Seat
As with most strollers, the basic model has a toddler seat. This is a mode that the stroller comes with and is the one that is most often used. In fact, you might end up using this mode for several years because this stroller is equipped to carry your child until he or she is 65 pounds. Surprisingly, you could have a child use this stroller until they are 9 years old.
Travel System
This stroller also has an optional travel system, which is important to many parents who are buying this before their infant is born. Newborns cannot ride in many strollers immediately after birth because they lack the proper head and neck support at the incline. This stroller is equipped to hold many baby carriers including Britax, Chicco, Clek, Cybex, Graco, Maxi Cosi, Nuna, Peg Perego, and UPPAbaby infant car seats.
Adapter
If your car seat wasn’t included in that list, don’t worry! You can also purchase an adapter that will allow your car seat to connect to this stroller. These adapters work with nearly all car seats on the market, but make sure you double-check if it will work for yours before you buy.

Pram
Another thing that makes the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 unique is that it can also be a travel system with a pram. You can buy your pram through Baby Jogger and it will work without an adapter.
Why Use a Pram?
Have you ever wondered why you would spend the money to get a pram when you could just as easily use your car seat with the stroller? In fact, a pram could be even more inconvenient because you will have to transfer your baby over to their car seat when you are ready to leave to get in the car.
Well, if you are walking the pram from your home, transferring your baby won’t be an issue, but it is a valid question why you would use a pram. Most pediatricians will say that they would like babies to spend as little time as possible in the car seat. Some doctors will even encourage parents to take their children out of their car seats when they get home even if they are sleeping. Wouldn’t it be so much easier to just let them sleep in the car seat?
Car seats are the safest option for your baby to ride in a car, but it really isn’t good for them to be in that position all the time. Babies, especially infants, are growing all the time and their spines will grow in the most optimal way when they are flat on their backs or in constant movement. Holding your baby upright in a seated position isn’t a great option for your baby in the long term.
So if you’re planning on going long distances or want to spend some good quality time at a park or shopping, then a pram is the healthiest, most comfortable option for your brand new infant.
Glider Board
Are you one of the many parents who have more than one child? Although the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Stroller can accommodate your child until they are 65 pounds, what are you supposed to do if you have another baby and still have a young child?
Baby Jogger does have this model in a double stroller, which is a fantastic option, but they also have an additional glider board that you can buy for your toddler. This is a fun and exciting way for your older child to travel around town. They will feel much more independent since they can get on and off easier than in a stroller and they have the option of walking or riding if they get tired.
The only downside to this is if your child gets extremely tired on walks to where they fall asleep. There won’t be any extra room for them to do this, so a double stroller might be what you’d want if that is like your child.
The glider board does not come with the stroller and it is an additional cost.

Add Ons
Like the glider board, the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Stroller has a lot of add ons that you can get to customize your stroller in the exact way that you want it. In fact, the stroller itself has pretty basic features, but you get the opportunity to buy only the things that you want and none of the features that you don’t care to spend money on.
You can view all of these add ons in the video below:
Parent Tray
One thing that I personally would never want to live without is the parent tray. Unfortunately, this stroller does not come with a parent tray, but you can buy an additional detachable parent tray from Baby Jogger. This parent tray has insulated compartments and that you can use to store items or as cup holders.
There are other detachable parent trays from other companies that you can buy also. This one is my favorite. It has two insulated cup holders, a detachable clutch, a mesh pocket, and a bigger pocket ideal for snacks, toys, or diapers. You can even attach a strap to this if you want to take it off the stroller and wear it around.
Child’s Tray
The child tray is a pretty standard model of the tray that you would get with any stroller. It has one cup holder and a large tray that they can put snacks or toys on while you are strolling along.
Belly Bar
If you don’t care to get the child tray for your baby, then you might like to have the belly bar. This won’t hold things for your child, but it will hold your child in the stroller and make it more difficult to fall out. It’s also just a nice feature for children to hang onto or strap toys onto.
Cooler Bag
One innovative add-on that you can buy to enhance your stroller is a cooler bag. This is ideal for hot days when you want to keep drinks cold or for healthy snacks that are better kept cold.
Wheels
The wheels are some of the best aspects of the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Stroller. Baby Jogger calls these wheels “forever air” rubber tires.
Have you ever been in the position where your jogger tires have gone flat right when you were about to go out? There is nearly nothing more deflating than canceling a plan for going on a walk outside. With the forever air tires, this is an issue of the past. You will never have to refill these tires and they have the buoyancy of normal air tires. Your child will enjoy all-wheel suspension that will make the ride comfortable for your baby over all different kinds of terrain.
Not A Jogger
It is very confusing based on the brand name, but the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Stroller is not meant to be a jogger stroller. It might have the sleek look of a jogger stroller and the ride may be comfortable, but it is not intended for that use for a couple of reasons:
Not Fixed Wheel
There is one thing that is absolutely necessary for a jogging stroller and that is a fixed front wheel. There are some strollers that have fixed wheels and some that have wheels that can be fixed or free, but this particular stroller is only a free-wheel stroller. This means that it doesn’t have enough stability for running. It can be difficult to control a stroller while you are running, and a fixed wheel ensures that you are not rolling all over the road.
Bigger Wheels
Most Joggers have bigger wheels than this stroller. They make jogging easier and moving much faster. The smaller wheels might not be as comfortable when going over bumps etc. The bigger wheels help the ride feel smoother. Even though these tires are larger than some and have all-wheel suspension, it is not enough to keep comfortable at higher speeds.

Compactable
Why does it seem that every single stroller has a different way of collapsing? The Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Stroller has a very unique way of compacting down, and it couldn’t be any easier. All you have to do is pull the handle at the base of the seat and it collapses down instantly.
There are some strollers that don’t compact down very well, but this is not one of them. In fact, even if you have the car seat adapter attached to the stroller, it can still collapse down to a size that you can easily put into your trunk.
Recline
The Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Stroller reclines to almost a flat position. This is a very important feature to most parents. First of all, this is an absolute necessary feature for napping on the go. Because if we’re being honest, sometimes the only reason we go on walks is to encourage babies who are reverse cycling to take a nap during the day.
This is also a great feature for young children who don’t have as much control over their necks as they need to sit up for long periods of time. Baby Jogger says that you should only use the toddler seat without a car seat or pram if your baby is 6 months or older, but even babies at 6 months can get a bit tired of holding their own heads up after a while and like to lay down flat. Options are always a good thing.
Magnetic Peekaboo Window
A peekaboo window is always a fun little addition to a stroller canopy. It’s just fun to be able to play peekaboo with your little one while they are strolling along in their seat. It’s also just a good idea to be able to keep an eye on your baby at all times, especially if they are eating snacks in the seat.
If it gets really sunny, you have the option of closing the window securely so that your baby doesn’t have a sunspot on them the whole walk. The canopy is 50+ SPF and will protect your baby’s skin. You have the freedom to spend time outside walking while also making sure that your baby is safe from the sun’s rays.
Adjustable Handle
The Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Stroller has one feature that I haven’t seen in many strollers and that is the adjustable handlebar. You can move the handlebar up and down depending on your height. I absolutely love this feature! As a person who is shorter than the standard adult, sometimes it feels as though the world isn’t made for people like me. Countertops, shelves, mirrors are all positioned a little too high for what I would prefer. A feature like an adjustable handle is one that I’m sure most adults would appreciate.
Hand Adjusted Brakes
There are about three different brakes that I’ve seen on strollers.
- Some brakes are located on the back wheels that you have to adjust with your foot.
- There are the ones located on the side of the frame that you can adjust with your hand.
- And there are the brakes that are located right on the handlebar that you can click on and off similar to a bike brake.
While my absolute favorite is the one that is like the bike brake because it is so easy to use the brake whenever you want, you usually only see this on actual jogger strollers. This kind of brake is amazing though when you are going down a really steep hill and don’t want your strolling rolling away from you.
The Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Stroller has the second option of the brake. It is located on the side of the frame and you are only supposed to use it as a parking brake. While I do prefer it over the foot brake, because it is just more convenient, it would be nice to have the bike brake.
Calf Support
The baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Stroller can handle children from ages 6 months to about 8 years old in the toddler seat. This is a really wide range of ages and sizes and it makes sense that adjustments will need to be made to accommodate all these different body sizes. Baby Jogger has a calf support platform that can be adjusted up and down based on what is most comfortable for your child.
I remember the feeling of my calves being sore because they were laying on the edge of a seat for too long, so I understand that this is an amazing option for families who want to spend a lot of time outside and in the stroller.
Storage Space
The Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Stroller has a pretty standard amount of storage space in the undercarriage. There is enough room to hold a basic diaper bag, some snacks, jackets, toys, etc. Basically, it’s the same size that most strollers are underneath.

Conclusion
Overall, the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Stroller is very impressive in a few different areas. First of all, while it can be disappointing to not get all the add ons automatically for a stroller at this price point, I like that you are able to customize the look of your stroller by buying the add ons that you want, and only the ones you want. I appreciate that it can be as sleek or as bulky as you want it to be based on how many attachments you want.
Secondly, I like that it is so versatile. You can use it with nearly any brand of car seat and you can even add a glider for a toddler to stand on.
Finally, I like that the wheels are so sturdy and provide so much comfort. It is frustrating to go on a walk with your little one, hoping that they will nod off to sleep only for them to wake up to every sidewalk seam. This stroller provides a lot of comfort for your child without having to deal with jogging bulky wheels.
Ultimately, it is a great stroller that your family will enjoy for years to come!
